Getting up in the mornings is hard enough, let alone trying to get in a quick morning workout to get your metabolism going for the day. Fortunately, there are some tricks to working out in the morning, so here are some easy exercises to do at home before work or taking the kids to school.
First, I have learned that the hardest thing is making your workout a habit. I wake up and go to the bathroom, have a quick drink of water, and start exercising. Otherwise, let’s be honest, it won’t happen. For me, this meant finding good workouts that I can accomplish in the comfort of my home because I don’t want to be driving to the gym at the break of dawn. If you’re able to do that, more power to you!
Also, it should be short and sweet so a 10 to 15 minute workout is optimal. You do not want to finish your workout and feel like you have to pass out again. The best morning workouts allow for you to get your heart rate up and hit all your major muscles.
Below are some of my favorite morning workouts that are easy to do at home, hit all the best workout requirements, and require minimal equipment.
There are many benefits to having a good exercise first thing in the morning. Creating this habit immediately helps your schedule and routine. If you get stuck at work, you won’t feel that guilt of missing your standard workout because you got a good exercise in that morning.
If you have had a hard time staying consistent with your workouts throughout the week, try switching to morning workouts. Research has shown that if you workout in the morning you are more likely to stay consistent with your routine and therefore see more lasting results.
Interestingly, there are many studies which have proven that morning exercisers are more productive and have better sleep than those who workout later at night. When you start your day off with a quick morning workout you are more focused and prepared for all the events throughout the rest of your day.
One of the greatest benefits of morning exercises is the immediate stress relief you will have to start off the day. It has been proven over and over again that working out is an amazing aid in reducing stress. What better way that to attack the day ahead of you than with a clear and relaxed mind. Also, that little extra boost of self esteem which comes from working out will add a little pep in your step for that early morning meeting you have.
Changing to a routine of morning workouts is not an easy thing for everyone, but it is definitely worth a try. I challenge you to try the five workouts above for one week and see how you feel. Start off your day with an extra boost and reach the goal that you have been striving for.
