A little over a year ago, my friend Michelle came to me and asked if I wanted to become a part of a Girls Night Out (GNO) group. I figured “what the hell”, I’ll just go this one time and use it as an excuse to get away from everything that was going on in my life at that time. Little did I know that I would meet some amazing women and find life-long friends.
The group was designed for us all to get away from everyday life, have fun, and relax with girlfriends. Also, each month we would contribute a monthly due towards our annual D.L.G. (our group’s name, I’ll leave that up to your imagination) GNO trip. Each month a different member of our group hosts the night out with different ideas, many of which may be found below.
If you have the opportunity to have a GNO group, or join one, I highly recommend it. It is very hard to find and make great friends nowadays and I can’t imagine my life without any of these girls. These ladies have helped me get through some very tough times in my life with their love, laughter and unconditional support.
Girls Night Out Ideas
Minute-To-Win-It Competition
These little 60 second games turn in to a hilarious competition. Also, the majority of the games can be done with the plastic cups, straws, etc that you already have in your home. Look online and youtube for tons of ideas on a fun and friendly competition.
Movie Night
Everyone bring a movie, their favorite wine, and sit back and relax on a room full of pillows.
Photo Session
One of my favorites! Set up some photo backdrops and click away! Bring props, wigs and wardrobe changes and have a blast catching some great memories.
Paint Night
Pick a painting from the internet, buy canvases for each member along with some paint, and recreate the picture you have chosen. One of the great moments of this night will be lining up all the paintings and seeing the differences in everyone’s art.
Dinner
This is very basic and simple, go out to dinner. Tip here is to make sure that you take your time and not simply get in and out. Have some appetizers, a couple drinks, and even share some desserts.
Karaoke
Find a karaoke bar, let down your guard, and just have fun with your friends!
Charades
Separate into two different teams for a little friendly competition. Each team should create entries for each category: movies, TV show, song, or if you are feeling a little risque, try an intimate category.
Bachelorette Party
You may have a bachelorette in your group, if not, who cares! Find a cheap veil, a bunch of penis paraphernalia, some tutus for your group, and head out to your favorite group of bars. The greatest part of this is that your group can take turns being the bride-to-be, just make sure you travel to different bars each time.
Scavenger Hunt
Separate into two teams and have a scavenger hunt around town. Determine a restaurant, and a time for the game to be over, where everyone will meet to start and finish the night. Have a set list of tasks, all worth different points, and let the teams start. Some fun examples of tasks to complete: a business card from a tattoo parlor, somebody jumping in a body of water (e.g. fountain, pool, pond, etc.), or everyone completing a handstand against a building. All actions must be caught on video or have photographic proof in order to count. This leads to many amazing and unforgettable memories.
Pinterest Night
Find some fun quick crafts/recipes on Pinterest and spend the night making some great crafts and eating some delicious food.
Pole Dancing
This girls night will be a blast and you will get a great exercise in without even knowing it! This exercise is becoming more popular and studios are opening up everywhere. Look online to find a studio near you which will provide private sessions.
Dancing Competition
If a girl in your group has a game station, gather everyone together for a dance competition. There are many dance games available on the market, JustDance, Michael Jackson, Black Eyed Peas, etc. Not only will you have a blast watching everyone dance to their hearts content, but your whole group will now be able to bust out the Thriller dance routine at the next Halloween party.
DIY night
This is similar to pinterest night, but focus on only one DIY project. One great DIY project is to create holiday wreaths. Everyone can bring different material to add to their wreath (e.g. ornaments, ribbon, glitter) and at the end of the night each girl will have a great decoration for their house filled with memories.
Thank you to all my lovely DLG ladies for letting me use some photos of our memorable times. I Love each and every one of you!
